I write mostly about early motherhood and chronic illness (my husband's, not my son's) so I understand this one deeply. I think I'm pretty much on the same page in that the writing is more about me and my experience as it relates to my son rather than directly about him. Writing is indeed a powerful tool for connection and for feeling (and making others feel) less alone.
Yes! Our stories and our children's stories are so interwoven, its hard to draw the line between what is your story to tell, and what is oversharing their childhood—but at the same time, I really believe that the world needs more stories about the breadth and depth of motherhood.
Absolutely! I think it's an extremely important awareness to have but we also have to trust ourselves to be able to tow that line because these stories are too important not to tell.
